Artist's Statement: Opaque contrasting color is used to emphasize formal characteristics of my kiln worked glass. While the technique referred to as fused and slumped glass generally presents a single viewing surface, even in sculptural contexts, these pieces present continuous planes and depth of space designed to draw them into greater spatial interplay. The lack of translucence and restricted color range lend an unexpected substantial quality to these pieces, pointing to yet another versatile aspect of glass as a material.
