Artist’s Statement
My mission through photography is to capture an image that moves me because of its composition or juxtaposition of colors and/or forms. I look for images which most people would pass by and try to turn the ordinary into something worth holding on to.
In pursuit of these images, I often go back many times to the same spot to get the lighting which will enhance the photo and which will bring out the best of the color and composition.
Sometimes these images are completely abstract and other times they tell a story which might be funny or enlightening or both.
At the moment I am working in color, but I have worked with black and white in three darkrooms in the last 40 years. I use both film and digital cameras and use Epson ink jet printers to print my own photographs.
