Artist's StatementPaul Kenney: Characters and Context
For the past 18 months I have concentrated mainly on figures and portraits, using poses ranging from five minutes to six hours and integrating them in a variety of settings and contexts. I placed figures in lyrical and sometimes humorous contexts or simply celebrated the beauty and character of my models.
The Providence Art Club's models and collegial environment have been a great support to my efforts. The studios of Allen Johnson, Tony Jannello, Don Paulhus, and of course the other artists and students who participated in these sessions, contributed to the inspiration and crafting of the portraits and figures of this exhibition.
