Under Pressure: A Portfolio of Original Prints by Artists of the Providence Art Club

Under Pressure is the first group portfolio project produced by members of the Providence Art Club. There are thirteen original prints representing a range of interpretation and print media. Each print is on the artists’ choice of paper measuring nine inches by twelve inches – the size of the paper is the thread uniting all the prints. Participating artists include: Joan Arnaud, Joan Thompson Boghossian, Wanda Perkowska Coderre, Ann Daum, Barnet Fain, Jean Fain, Carol Strause FitzSimonds, Elizabeth A. Goddard, Richard S. Harrington, Arlene K. McGonagle, James B. Myette, Roberta Van Der Molen, and Elizabeth Bonner Zimmerman.

Portfolio Project Goals
Education: The term printmaking encompasses so many techniques – from traditional processes such as etching and woodcut to new technology and 21st century materials. The portfolio prints showcase some of the diversity available to today’s printmakers and offers an opportunity for the public, club members and participating artists to view, compare and discuss various print techniques. The sale of eight Under Pressure portfolios will help purchase much needed printmaking equipment for the club’s classroom.

Under Pressure will be unveiled in a special exhibit in the Dodge House Gallery opening on Sunday June 3, 2007.
